Jawel, dit technologische wonder heeft (dankzij zijn broer) eindelijk de juiste programma's weten te downloaden om de foto's van de camera naar de computer kan overplaatsen. Dieu, Looi kan nu kaartlezen en foto's uploaden; alweer een maand van huis zijn veranderd een mens echt!
Van de week trouwens de eerste voorzichtige tekenen van 'aqua alta' gemerkt. Wel erg voorzichtig, maar het herfstseizoen wordt zo langzamerhand wel ingeluid. Aqua alta is de Venetiaanse benaming voor hoog water. En dan niet simpel eb en vloed (van welke je maar weinig merkt in Venetië, ook al is het wel degelijk aanwezig), maar dermate hoog water dat sommige oevers overstromen. Het zijn nog geen erg drastische tekenen van aqua alta die we tot nu toe hebben gehad (slechts een paar overstroomde putten en wat water dat op de oever klotst), maar het herfstseizoen staat wel degelijk voor de deur.
En met het geleidelijk aan komen van de aqua alta lijken de toeristen juist gelijkdelijk Venetië te verlaten. Laatst stond ik op het Piazza San Marco en ik verbaasde me er zelfs over hoe relatief (lees: relatief!) rustig het was op het plein. Volgens mij was het voor het eerst dat er zelfs meer duiven dan toeristen waren. (Ho! Lezen we dat goed? Jawel, normaal ziet het er zo zwart van de toeristen dat er soms zelfs geen plaats meer lijkt te zijn voor de tienduizenden duiven die Venetië huist.)
